September is the perfect time to put a Will in place, or review and update your existing one.
A Will is an important legal document. It allows you to decide who will receive your assets, who will administer your estate, and how your affairs will be managed after your death.
If you die without a valid Will, your estate will be distributed according to the intestacy rules set out in the Administration Act 1969. This means your assets may pass to family members in proportions determined by legislation, rather than in accordance with your personal wishes.
Having an up-to-date Will can provide certainty and peace of mind for both you and your loved ones. It can also help minimise potential disputes, reduce delays in administering your estate, and ensure your intentions are clearly documented.
Life circumstances can change over time. Marriage, entering or ending a relationship, the birth of children or grandchildren, purchasing property, or changes in financial circumstances are all good reasons to review your Will.
